Among the sustainable travel choices, the train stands out as a good way to reach Montreal. The journey takes about 8 hours 31 minutes, and with fares starting at just US$57, it presents an excellent value for a comfortable ride.
According to customer reviews, the bus service has received mixed feedback. Some customers had a positive experience with excellent drivers and smooth rides. However, others expressed dissatisfaction due to inconveniences such as early morning departures without prior notice about locked stations and unclear waiting areas. It is important to note that there were also negative reviews recommending against using this service.

We turned around just after leaving Albany and then spent 90 minutes trying to kick off a couple passengers for reasons that were unclear and did not seem entirely justified. Ended up arriving significantly later. Very disappointing.

The bus station was a complete mess, including no way to know which bus was where or late etc. The bus driver was horribly disorganized, he created a mob of people trying to hand out continuation tickets, then tried to kick two people off the bus without explanation. For one passenger he was totally incorrect. For another elderly passenger who spoke limited English the bus driver berated him when he could have easily looked up the gentleman’s circumstances (he had scheduled a later bus and was just confused). The bus driver made an insensitive comment that shocked and angered all of us passengers (he made a rude comment about French speakers that made even English speakers upset) and later led to the bus driver being harassed by a passenger later on in the trip. I was one of 3 people the bus driver would not let on the bus but would not explain why until everybody else was on it (it was because we were the only 3 who started the trip in Albany). One of us 3 was a pregnant lady who was made to stand for the duration of all of this confusion. I will say that the bus driver knew how to drive. I am calling this out specifically because several passengers who were upset about the drivers comment about French kept harassing him any time he went around a turn accusing him of falling asleep. This was false- they were just in the back of the bus so going around a turn sucks. The bus driver had to stop the bus and tell those passengers he would kick them off if it happened again. He was right to do this because he was being harassed. It’s just unfortunate that his handling of boarding and his horrible comment led directly led to that frustration.
